Man killed, another arrested in separate gun seizures in Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica — One man is dead and another in police custody following separate incidents in Kingston last night, when the authorities retrieved two illegal guns.
In the first incident, the police said a man was fatally shot during a confrontation with officers in Olympic Gardens about 8:00pm and a 9mm Browning pistol taken from him.
Then, about 10:00 pm, a Beretta 9mm pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition was taken from a 22 year-old man in Franklyn Town.
Reports from the Elleston Road police are that the young man ran on seeing lawmen, who were in the area, and threw an object on a nearby premises.
The police said he was accosted, searched and the object retrieved.
He was subsequently taken into custody; however his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
