LESS than a month after releasing RIP , a tribute song to people who passed away, former Portmore Empire artiste Gaza Maxwell is dead.

On Monday, the entertainer was stabbed to death at a recording studio in St Thomas.

According to the Constabulary Communication Unit (CCU), the Jamaica Constabulary’s Force’s information arm, the 34-year-old entertainer, whose given name is Maxwell Lawson, was stabbed while at a recording studio in Springfield in the parish. He later succumbed to injuries. A male suspect was taken into police custody.

As news of the St Thomas resident’s death made rounds on social media, fans of the late entertainer expressed their outrage at his untimely passing.

“Bro me feel it, Jah Know,” a post read. His former manager Milton Foster remembers Gaza Maxwell as a talented singjay.

“He was one of the first artise I signed to my label in 2011. He was like brother to me and taught a lot about the music and made a lot of link for me before Frass Out Records became a success,” Foster told the Jamaica Observer.

“Even though we had our differences in 2016 and we went our separate ways, we always respected each other and supported each other music. It’s a shame in 2017 when we just start link back and we plan to put out new music it never got to happen,” Foster added.

Gaza Maxwell emerged on the dancehall scene in 2009. He is best known for his collaboration with Vybz Kartel called Bun Fi Bun. He followed up with other tracks like Sumptn Fi Sumptn, All Dem A Talk, Hold Dem Yah, Summa Deh Yah, and War (a collab with Merciless) .
