Police seize firearm in Little London, man charged

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A man was taken into custody on Wednesday after police officers assigned to the Westmoreland Police Division seized a firearm and three round of ammunition from him during an operation in New Hope district, Little London.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is 59-year-old Nathan Blake, a welder of New Hope district in the parish.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that lawmen were in the area about 5:30 pm when a tyre shop which is operated by Blake was searched.

A .38 revolver containing three rounds of ammunition was found hidden in a drawer during the search. Blake was subsequently arrested and charged.
