St James fish vendor nabbed with firearm
ST JAMES, Jamaica — A fish vendor has been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition on Nelly Lane, Top Hill in St James yesterday, the police have reported.
Reports from the Montego Hills police are that a team of officers was on patrol in the area about 10:00 pm, when 26-year-old Kemar Sawyers was seen sleeping on a stone along the roadway.
He was accosted and searched and, according to the lawmen, a 9mm Beretta pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm rounds of ammunition was taken from the jacket he was wearing.
Sawyers is to appear before the Western Regional Gun Court on Wednesday, October 11.
