Three Jamaicans arrested in Cayman for ganja
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three Jamaican men were last Friday night nabbed by Cayman police as they allegedly attempted to smuggle more than 550 pounds of ganja on to a South Sound beach in the island.
The men appeared before court yesterday.
According to reports in Cayman, the men identified as 42-year-old Ceaphus Reynolds; Eyon Johnson, 45, and Linton Pallarchie, 36; were all charged with the importation of ganja, possession with intent to supply and illegal landing.
The men were remanded in custody until October 16, when they will make their next court appearance.
The police were alerted through several 911 reports about the arrival of a canoe and the suspicious activity in the beachfront neighbourhood. The drug canoe had reportedly landed across from the San Sebastian Apartments, a well populated residential area.
The men attempted to flee Cayman authorities but were tracked by a Joint marine unit and a police helicopter and arrested.
