UPDATE: Tufton to host HPV discussion on social media today
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Health, Christopher Tufton will be hosting a public discussion via social media about the government’s initiative to prevent cervical cancer through the introduction of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
The ministry has been bombarded with concerns relating to the side effects and administration of the vaccines to school girls in grade seven.
According to an advisory from the ministry today, the live discussion will take place today at 6:00 pm.
People are being encouraged to join on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by addressing Tufton on the platforms via his @christufton handle and using the hashtag #StopHPVJa.
Education Minister, Ruel Reid earlier today disclosed that the introduction of the HPV vaccine has been postponed until more assessment is done.
