Nearly 300 police officers promoted
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Nearly 300 rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have been promoted, following last week’s announced promotion of 28 senior officers.
The promotion to the ranks of corporal and sergeant for selected officers took effect yesterday with a six-month probationary period.
According to the Police High Command, eligible candidates were selected on the basis of examination results; years in their current rank; recommendations from commanding officers and security clearance.
Earlier this week, Security Minister Robert Montague, in congratulating the 28 senior officers that were promoted, renewed his call for other officers to be promoted.
He said there were more than 300 spots to be filled in the JCF, arguing that a lack of promotion leads to a low morale.
