Brown Burke nomination ‘a great day in history’ says Phillips
KINGSTON, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) leader Dr Peter Phillips a short while ago told comrades that the party is witnessing “a great day in history” as Angela Brown Burke prepared to be nominated to represent the constituency of St Andrew South West.
Dr Phillios was addressing enthusiastic party supporters in the vicinity of Caribbean Palms Estate on Spanish Town Road where scores gathered to welcome Brown Burke, who is expected to take the safe seat, which was vacated by former Member of Parliament and Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller when she retired from political life in June.
Brown Burke’s candidacy was in July backed by Simpson Miller in the run-off between the Norman Gardens councillor and the 10-year councillor for the Payne Land division, Audrey Smith Facey.
