‘I am ready to debate anytime, anywhere,’says PNP’s Alexis
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for South-East St Mary, Dr Shane Alexis says he is ready to debate Dr Norman Dunn of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), anytime and anywhere in the constituency.
The “confident” Dr Alexis in a release from the party this morning said that he has been talking and listening to the people in the constituency and is conscious of the issues affecting them. “After travelling across the different communities of the constituency that borders Portland, St Andrew and St Catherine, I have heard the cries of the people and my solutions to their problems are contained in a 12-point plan that I have published. It is now for the people to elect me to be their representative in the Parliament so that I can implement.”
“The essence of a democracy is constant interaction with the people. A debate is one such form of interaction and I am prepared to debate the issues, even if they were to be organised by the opponent,” he added.
If the debates are organised by RJR Group or the National Debates Commission, I am ready. Whosoever organises it, I am ready, because it is about discussing the people’s issues,” Dr Alexis stated.
