NSWMA to address collection backlog in Ewarton and Linstead
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is apologising to residents of Linstead and Ewarton in St Catherine who have been experiencing non-collection of their solid waste.
In a release today The NSWMA explained that the issue was caused by mechanical challenges with compactor units assigned to communities in the area.
The NSWMA said that they are working to address the issue with immediate effect, adding that earlier today they diverted compactor units from other areas “not so challenged”, to make collection in the affected communities.
“We assure the residents that the team will be working assiduously over the next 24 hours to clear the backlog and return to the normal collection schedule,” the NSWMA said.
