Show JLP you are ‘stronger than money’, Phillips tells comrades
ST MARY, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) President, Dr Peter Phillips a short while ago urged comrades gathered in Annotto Bay to run a clean and peaceful campaign.
At the same time, he told comrades to show the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) that they are “stronger than money”.
The party has accused the Government of using State funds to influence the outcome of the upcoming by-elections in St Mary South Eastern — a seat it won by only five votes in the Parliamentary elections last year.
Government recently announced a $600 million road rehabilitation programme for Junction main road in the constituency.
The PNP president also insisted that it is important that all PNP supporters from the constituency take nothing for granted and show up to vote in the October 30 by-election.
Medical doctor Shane Alexis was this afternoon nominated to contest the seat for the party.
