Hawkeye gets recognition from int’l professional certification body

HAWKEYE Electronic Security Limited was selected for a Certificate of Special Recognition from the Professional Certification Board (PCB) of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) — the global leader in security professional development, education which governs 242 chapters worldwide.

A release yesterday said the presentation was made during the 63rd ASIS International Annual Seminar and Exhibits hosted in Dallas, Texas from September 25-27. More than 20,000 global security stakeholders reportedly attended the event.

The accolade positions Hawkeye as the only recipient of an award in Jamaica (Region 7B), the release said, and marks the company as one of two organisations worldwide to receive this award.

Joseph Rector, chairman of PCB, in an official statement to the company noted: “Your company’s contributions and support are an inspiration to private and public employers throughout the world. As an award recipient, Hawkeye Electronic Security Limited will be featured in the September Fast Five e-news, the ASIS Show Daily newspaper at the 2017 ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits, and the October 2017 issue of Security Management magazine, as well as on the ASIS International website.”

Hawkeye General Manager for Group Human Resources and Operations Sharon Laing said the award is testament to the company’s commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and a professional code of conduct.

“ASIS’ certification is a visible acknowledgement of the mastery of core security principles and skills essential to the best practice of security management.

“We thank the local chapter of ASIS for nominating us for this award and facilitating the training opportunities for our security professional development; our board of directors for its endorsement for training and development; and our team members who participated in the various opportunities in enhancing our skills and professionalism in this industry,” Laing is quoted as saying in the release.

The company’s operations managers have achieved the professional designations as Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and Certified Protection Professional (CPP), the release said.

These designations, according to the release, prove they now have the demonstrable knowledge and experience in threat assessment and risk analysis; integrated physical security systems; and the appropriate identification, implementation and ongoing evaluation of security measures.

Meanwhile, Hawkeye also received Level 2 HEART Certification for Industrial Security Operations, for its Group Training Centre, from the National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET), the release continued.

The certification makes Hawkeye the only private security firm NCTVET-certified at level two for industrial security by Jamaica’s certification body for technical and vocational skills training, the release said.

“Hawkeye Group Training Centre is dedicated to the education and training in the field of security operations…” said Laing.

“The HEART certification of the Hawkeye Group Training Centre is just one aspect of an annual investment of over $20 million in professional development,” Laing said. “We are particularly pleased because certification from NCTVET means that Hawkeye’s training programme is also recognised in other jurisdictions in Caricom (Caribbean Community) and the Commonwealth.”

Hawkeye currently offers training for their team members. However, the release said the intention is to extend this training to other people who wish to pursue a career in the security industry.
