In honour of Brian George
THE family of the late Brian George says it has established a scholarship in honour of the former business leader.
In a release yesterday, the family said George was an exemplary business executive, having held top positions in organisations such as IBM, Carib Brewery, G-Tech (now IGT), and Supreme Ventures Ltd.
“Brian George represents a significant role model for current and future businessmen and businesswomen,” the release said.
The family said the Brian R A George Scholarship will commence in Fall 2018, and will offer renewable three-year scholarships to students who have been accepted to a local university in the field of mathematics, physics or business.
“Eligible candidates must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, leadership qualities, and a commitment to community service,” the release said.
George held a degree in physics and economics from Tulane University, and was passionate about developing youth in sports, science and leadership, the release continued.
“The Brian George Scholarship will continue his commitment to making a difference in the lives of promising young leaders,” his family said.
Yesterday marked one year since the passing of George.
Meanwhile, Supeme Ventures Limited also donated $4 million to the University Hospital of the West Indies for the purchase of a portable echocardiogram machine in honour of George, its former president and CEO.
