With no designated feature race being offered on tomorrow’s 10-race programme, with the Burger King sponsored Super Day of racing just around the corner, a native-bred and imported two-year-old maiden special weight event over five-and-a-half furlongs (1,100m) will be one of the more prominent offerings.

Seven two-year-olds have been entered for this sprint event of which three are first-time starters.

The Supreme Racing Guide takes a closer look at the runners.

RICKY RICARDO — One of the first-time runners in the field, the wittily named Ricky Ricardo from the famed ‘I Love Lucy’ television programmes is a bay colt by Storm Craft out of the He’stherealthing mare My Friend Lucy. He is bred by the YS (1955) Limited and is trained by Wayne DaCosta. Ricky Ricardo is an unknown factor in this race with time needed to discover his racing ability. It is a wait and see situation with this bay colt.

CHRISTILANO – Ran fourth behind Esperanza over five-and-a-half furlongs on October 25. Continues to move nicely in the mornings and with two runs under his girth, Christilano should improve. Christilano was all the betting rage (2-5) on debut, but did not deliver what was anticipated, especially after his exploits on the exercise track. Christilano is looking for atonement and may just find it.

KEY WITNESS – Finished fourth by over nine lengths on debut to the out of class Honey Ryda on October 25 over five- and-a-half furlongs in a non-winners of two race. Key Witness now drops to maiden company and should get a little closer. Trainer Gary Griffiths has added the blinkers, but we will have to wait and see the impact of this equipment change on performance.

TRICKSTER – This bay filly by Casual Trick – Face Tracker is bred, owned and trained by Gordon Lewis. From all indications, Trickster may need some more time to show her worth.

MY BEIRUT – Finished a good third on debut behind Lovely Day going six-and-a -half furlongs after being slowly into stride. My Beirut continues to play the part in the mornings and with a run under his belt, this bay colt by Adore The Gold – Jadore looks all set to open his account here. Noticeable also is that trainer Richard Azan has decided to use the services of jockey Dick Cardenas.

APOLLO BAY – The most experienced of the lot with five outings in his racing bank account. Apollo Bay has two second-place finishes to his credit and looks hard-pressed here to better those performances. Note also that the stable rider Dick Cardenas has decided to ride a horse from another camp. Trainer Athony Nunes has added the Figure-8 plus and there is first-time use of Lasix.

EL PROFESOR – El Profesor a bay colt by Casual Trick – The Principal is reportedly doing well at exercise. Trained by Fitzroy Gilespie, El Profesor should be watched.
