DESPITE the intermittent rains which lashed the island last weekend, the third anniversary of the dancehall-themed KGN 5 party managed to attract a large turnout of patrons.

Under the theme ‘Los Blancos’, the party certainly lived up to expectations. Held last Saturday at the St Lucia Car Park in New Kingston, the event featured musical selections comprising dancehall, soca, and hip-hop.

Patrons partied until early Sunday morning as the likes of Rebel Sound, DJ Sir Toxic, Chris Dymond and Di Unit kept them entertained.

“The highlight was the fireworks at the climax of the party. It was a nice surprise for the patrons and most were captivated,” co-promoter Chavaughn O’Neil told Jamaica Observer.

“The rain did put a damper on the party because a lot of the original patrons who are normally in attendance, didn’t show up. Quite a few patrons who were there also decided to leave because of the downpour of rain. But nonetheless, the 1900 patrons that stayed, enjoyed themselves,” he continued.

A number of fellow event coordinators, including representatives from MAPS, Ripplz, and 90s Recall were in attendance.

KGN 5 was first held on October 25, 2014 at the Twin Gates Lounge in Half-Way-Tree in St Andrew. It is held three times annually.

The next staging of KGN 5 is scheduled for February 10, 2018.

“At our next staging, we will reintroduce KGN 5 Rojo, which is our all-red edition,” said O’Neil.
