Four civilians killed over the weekend, INDECOM investigating
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is reporting that it has launched investigations into the killing of four civilians in separate incidents by the security forces over the weekend.
The first was a fatal shooting in the vicinity of Port Henderson Road in St Catherine at approximately 5:20pm on Friday. Two men were shot dead following a reported confrontation with members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). The deceased men in this case have not yet been positively identified, INDECOM said.
And approximately six hours later a second incident occurred in Franklyn Town, Kingston. In this incident, members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) were also involved. The involved officers were interviewed, giving their initial accounts, and are to be served with notices during the course of this week, INDECOM said.
The deceased in this case has been identified as Andre Marsden of a McIntyre Villa address.
The third fatal shooting incident occurred on Sunday in Hayes District, Clarendon where one man was killed. He remains unidentified.
The commission is now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed or has information relating to the fatal shootings to assist.
