IT was an intense offering of soca music that reigned supreme at last Friday’s staging of Hard Wine. Held at the Mas Camp in St Andrew, the event also featured dancehall music which was added to the melting pot of musical pot-pourri.

With music provided by the likes of DJ Kurt Riley, DJ Smoke, DJ Billy and DJ Lil Chris from St Vincent as well as DJ William of Chozen Wunz in Trinidad, patrons were taken on a musical high with current and past soca hits. Even a few songs from the upcoming 2018 soca season were introduced.

“Hard Wine was absolutely amazing. It was well attended, and the energy was high and fun-filled for all our patrons,” Riley told Jamaica Observer.

Although the patrons were mostly young professionals and college students, the organisers are keen on capturing a more mature audience including A and B consumers.

“We’ve introduced a new VIP area dubbed BPP. It’s our means of creating a more relaxed space for our more mature patrons who would like to enjoy concierge service, premium drinks and food all night,” Riley explained.

Hard Wine was first held in November of 2002. It is held twice annually. The next staging is scheduled for February 2, 2018.
