New 45-day amnesty for unpaid traffic tickets
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The House of Representatives has approved another amnesty for unpaid traffic tickets from November 27, 2017 to January 13, 2018.
Minister of National Security, Robert Montague, who piloted the Bill through the House yesterday said the Government had extended the period of the amnesty by 45 days to provide motorists who had missed the last amnesty, which ended on October 30, with another opportunity to fulfil their legal obligations.
The minister warned motorists who fail to make use of this second opportunity that they will be vigorously pursued.
He also stated that the funds collected from the amnesty will be used to help finance the purchase of more vehicles for the police.
