SCOTIABANK, along with Jamaica National (JN) Group, Wisynco Group, Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ), and Jamaica Customs Agency came out champions of the 2017 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Divisional Leagues, which ended at the National Indoor Sports Centre (NISC) last Saturday.

The Scotiabank ‘A’ team, coached by Winston Nevers, defeated National Housing Trust (NHT) ‘A’, coached by Christopher Smart, in an exciting encounter ending 41-35 to win the Senior ‘A’ title.

It was the second meeting between both teams, as Scotiabank ‘A’ won the first in the preliminary round, and completed the Senior League competition unbeaten.

By virtue of their win, Scotiabank ‘A’ regained the title they lost to Ministry of Education (MOE) ‘A’, who had entered the competition for first time last year.

Scotiabank ‘A’ held a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but NHT ‘A’ outscored their opponents 13-7 to take a 21-20 lead at the half-time break.

The third quarter resulted in a ding-dong tussle with both teams trading goals, but NHT managed to maintain their one-goal lead with 30-29 at the final break.

Action in the fourth and final quarter saw the teams pick up the pace and go in search of quick goals. It was anybody’s game from then onwards before Scotiabank ‘A’ pulled away to come out victorious by six points.

For Scotiabank ‘A’, goal shooter Tennisha Bernard scored 30 goals from 35 attempts and goal attack Shadian Hemmings added 11 goals from 13 attempts, while for NHT ‘A’ Cyrstal Grant scored 19 goals from 29 attempts and Jodiann Ffrench-Kentish added 16 from 23 attempts.

Meanwhile, Jamaica National (JN) Group defeated Ministry of Education (MOE) ‘B’ 58-43 to capture the Senior ‘B’ League title. For JN Group, Nadine Cushine got 15 goals from 17 tries, and Rebekah Robinson scored 30 goals from 34 attempts. For MOE ‘B’, Samantha Martin got 21 goals from 23 attempts, and Crystal Duffus sank 10 from 12 efforts.

Wisynco Group clinched a nail-biting match with GraceKennedy 42-39 to capture the Intermediate ‘A’ League final. For Wisynco, Tashlieka Laird scored 27 goals from 36 attempts and Shannalee Miller got 15 goals from 22 attempts, while for GraceKennedy, Kimberley Allen netted 36 goals from 43 attempts, and Ann-Maria Chambers bagged nine from 13 efforts.

Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ) beat HEART Trust/NTA 38-36 to win the Intermediate ‘B’ League final. Scoring for HAJ were Carlene Atkinson with 36 goals from 44 attempts, while for the losers, Natasha Lee Chambers got 23 goals from 25 attempts and Sashina Holmes got 12 goals from 14 efforts.

Jamaica Customs Agency got the better of AEROTEL 26-24 to win the Junior League final. For the winners, Althea Lopez got 18 goals from 32 efforts and Angeline Patterson added eight goals from 15 efforts. Peta-Gaye Morrison scored nine goals from nine tries, and Chandie James also added nine goals from nine attempts.
