US visa applicants must register prior to interview
Q: I hear there are changes to how immigrant visas are processed at the US Embassy. Is this true?
Yes, improvements have been made to how we process immigrant visas. In order to benefit from these improvements, immigrant visa applicants will need to register prior to their appointment at
ais.usvisa-info.com/en-jm/iv/. If an applicant fails to do this before coming in for his/her interview, the application cannot be processed until the applicant registers.
Q: I have already had my interview. Will my application be affected by these changes?
If you have already come in for an interview, you still must now register so we continue processing your immigrant visa application. You will not be able to receive your approved visa, schedule a follow-up appointment, or send in additional documents without registering. Please visit
ais.usvisa-info.com/en-jm/iv/ to register.
Q: How do I register?
In order to register, you will need your case number, DS-260 receipt number and passport number. Then go to
ais.usvisa-info.com/en-jm/iv/, click on “Register” and follow the on-screen instructions to set up an account. You may also register over the phone by calling (876) 632-7400. In-person registration is not available. This service is free of charge.
Q: I don’t regularly check my email. Can I register with my petitioner’s or legal representative’s email address instead?
No. Applicants must register using their own email addresses, except in cases where the applicants are minors or are unable to register themselves. All applicants in a case must be registered. If you are the principal applicant, you can register yourself and then click “Add Applicant” to register your derivative family members. Remember that you will need to provide a working email address to register.
Q: Whom do I contact if I have problems registering?
If you have questions, problems registering, or would like more information, please visit the embassy’s website at
jm.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/ for more information.
