Grange ‘bigs up’ Chronixx on Grammy nomination
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange, this afternoon, while congratulating the Jamaican artistes nominated in the 60th Grammy Awards, said she was particularly pleased for first time nominee, Chronixx.
“I am so glad for Chronixx and I am sure that all Jamaicans are rejoicing with me on the rapid progress that this young man has made in his music career which has catapulted him to Grammy nomination,” the Culture and Entertainment Minister said following today’s announcement of the nominees in the Best Reggae Album Category.
The Jamaicans nominated for the Reggae Grammy are Chronixx, Damian Marley and Morgan’s Heritage.
The other nominees are J Boog of California and Common Kings of Hawaii in the United States.
“Damian Marley and Morgan’s Heritage are old stagers, Damian having won the award twice before and Morgan’s Heritage once, after being nominated twice. Nevertheless, it great for Jamaican music that their prowess as Reggae artistes has once again been recognised and so the nation must ‘big them up’” said Grange.
Grange said that, “Jamaica must now keep its fingers crossed that the name of one “our” nominees will be called when the Grammy winners are revealed on January 28, 2018. Chronixx for his Chronology album or Morgan’s Heritage for their Avrakedabra album or Damian Marley for his Stony Hill album.”
