United Nations celebrates ‘Butch’ Stewart

Sandals Resorts International (SRI) founder and chairman, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart (centre) is the toast of the evening after being honoured by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) with the Global Legend of the Caribbean Award on Tuesday evening at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, St James.

The award was for “long and outstanding contribution to sustainable global tourism growth and to job creation in the Caribbean”.

Celebrating with Stewart are prime ministers Allen Chastenet (second right) of St Lucia and Andrew Holness (second left) of Jamaica, as well as Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett (right) and Adam Stewart, deputy chairman and CEO of SRI.
