Weekly Round-up: Golden Crust CEO dead… Police car saga deepens …. Cop detained in gang bust

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The founder and CEO of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, Lowell Hawthorne, committed suicide at his Bronx factory over the weekend, leaving many in shock, as police say a mounting tax debt and a lawsuit by a former employee may have led to the popular businessman taking his life.

A ruthless criminal gang was busted over the weekend after more than six months of police investigations and has been blamed for at least eight murders and numerous rapes, including that of a 12-year-old girl.

And, Security Minister Robert Montague responded on Tuesday saying that no rules were breached by his ministry in the procurement of the vehicles.
