ONLINE READERS COMMENT: Jamaica has the most churches and most murders, why?
Dear editor,
There is a very important cause for concern.
It’s said that Jamaica is the Caribbean country with the most churches per square mile. And if this is true, why is our crime rate so high with 1,000-odd dying annually over the past few years?
The Bible says: “If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray … I will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14. Aren’t the churches doing that? If the churches are doing so, there shouldn’t be so much bloodshed.
We know that there will always be some killing in this world, because it’s from the beginning, but something is definitely wrong with Jamaica. This is not anymore a normal country. There are too many criminals and gunmen in this so-called Christian country.
What’s the solution then? More divine intervention? More love for one another? Too much love for vanity? Jamaica has been significantly overshadowed with crime, violence, death and fear.
The Bible cannot lie: there are more Christians and prayer warriors in this country than our enemies, so we should see positive results pertaining to crime, but we are not seeing it. One thing for sure is that conditional love is destroying church fellowship.
Thank you very much.
