LONDON, England (CMC) — Fast bowler Miguel Cummins has made excellent progress in the Test bowling rankings, jumping 14 places in the latest release yesterday.

The right-armer now lies 63rd in the rankings led by England’s Jimmy Anderson.

Cummins bowled impressively in the recent second Test against New Zealand in Hamilton to finish with five wickets, as the Windies slumped to a 240-run defeat inside four days.

Fellow speedster Shannon Gabriel also moved up the rankings, gaining two spots to be 21st, just one behind Kemar Roach, who remained 20th.

Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, who did not play a match in the series, remained 22nd while captain and seamer Jason Holder, who missed the Hamilton game through suspension, is also unmoved in 33rd position.

Meanwhile, Roston Chase’s half-century in the second innings of the second Test saw him move up seven places to 38th in the batting rankings, while wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich jumped six spots to 83rd.

The right-handed Chase struck 64 on Tuesday’s penultimate day as the Windies slid to 203 all out in their second innings.

Dowrich struck a breezy 35 in the first innings as West Indies were bowled out for 221.

Opener Kraigg Brathwaite is the highest-ranked West Indies batsman at 17th and the only one in the top 20.

Shai Hope, who failed to score a half-century in the two-match series, now lies 33rd.

Australia captain Steve Smith tops the rankings.
