UPDATE: Murder of PNP councillor-caretaker, son a major tragedy — Phillips
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party (PNP) says it is “shocked and deeply saddened” by the death of Clarendon councillor-caretaker, Carol Ebanks and her son, who both were attacked and killed by gunmen yesterday.
Party President, Peter Phillips, in a release today, described the deaths as major tragedy, adding: “the young councillor [caretaker] has lost her life in the prime of her years.”
“This is another episode that underscores the urgent need to stop the bloodletting,” Phillips said.
“What should be the season of peace and goodwill has found many families suffering and in mourning.”
The PNP also urged the police to “move swiftly to investigate and bring to book the murderers who continue to plague the nation with impunity.”
The party expressed condolences to the family of councillor-caretaker, Ebanks and other families who are facing similar circumstances.
