Several of Jamaica’s leading reggae and gospel artistes are slated to perform on the third staging of Christmas Joy in the Bass at the Old Ambassador Theatre on Collie Smith Drive, Trench Town on Thursday, December 21. The event is free to residents of Trench Town and surrounding communities. Fans of the acts are also invited to come. Show time is 7:00 pm.

Ernie Smith, Alaine, Carlene Davis, Kevin Downswell, and Rondell Positive are included in the line-up.

Also sharing the stage are comedians Ity & Fancy Cat, Naomi Cowan, saxophonist Dean Fraser, Carey Sayles, Spanner Banner, Ziggy Soul, and dance outfit Portraits of the Word. The acts will be backed by the Transformation Band. Guest emcee is DJ Karr.

“The night promises to bring joy, upliftment and encouragement for a community that has been a foundation for the growth of reggae music in Jamaica,” said Major Richard Cooke, President of Joy Town Community Development Foundation, host of the event.

The Ambassador Theatre and the Trench Town community have given rise to such successful artistes as Ken Boothe, Bob Marley and Alton Ellis, among manothers.

Christmas Joy in the Bass was introduced in Trench Town in December, 2012, and was also held in the Christmas Season of 2016.

The event will be presented by the Joy Town Community Development Foundation in association with Glory Music Entertainment and Kevin Downswell Ministries. Support will also come from Phase 3 Productions, Grizzly’s and Agency for Inner-City Renewal.

Joy Town Community Development Foundation (JTCDF) was founded by Major Richard Cooke and Pastor Bobby Wilmot in 2001 with the specific purpose of aiding community development in Trench Town and the surrounding communities.
