JUTC’s holiday ‘Night Hawk’ bus service returns
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has resumed its customary late night “Night Hawk” bus service for the Christmas to New Year period.
The service is similar to last year’s extended service, and will also be provided on days other than the traditional Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Regular “Night Hawk” service will be provided between 11 pm and 12 midnight on – Saturday, December 16; Friday, December 22; Saturday, December 23; and Monday, December 26.
However, there are two special nights- Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve – when the service will continue beyond midnight.
On Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, typically “Grand Market” night which normally means increased shopping activities, particularly in the downtown Kingston and Half-Way-Tree areas, operations will continue to 2 a.m. on the following routes-
3,3A, 8, 8A, 12, 12A, 17, 17A, 18, 18A, 20, 20A,21, 21B,22, 22A, 23A, 30, 31, 31A, 32, 32B, 44, 46, 47, 50, 53, 54,61, 72, 74,75, 78,83, 97, 98 and 99.
On New Year’s Eve the service will continue to 3 a.m. on those routes, and will also be extended to include the following routes –
1, 500, 50A, 52 and 66.
The JUTC will continue to charge regular fares over the period, which are $30 and $40 for the concession categories, including the elderly and children and $100 for adults.
The Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre will remain open and should have details of the special “Night Hawk” service for commuters who need information.
