Acts record KFC Christmas album
THROUGHOUT the years, KFC Jamaica has been associated with Jamaican music and culture. The brand has executed campaigns which have utilised well-known acts, including Wayne Marshall, Kevin Downswell, Chi Ching Ching and Busy Signal.
Last year, former Digicel Rising Stars winner and singer Christopher Martin signed with KFC Jamaica for its Big Deal campaign. Martin recently teamed with the company for the release of a Christmas album.
The project was done in partnership with Kingyard Productions. It features interpretations of popular Christmas standards.
“KFC has long been affiliated with music and entertainment, continuously supporting this industry through sponsorships as well as working with artistes for our various campaigns,” said KFC Brand Manager Andrei Roper.
The album is led by the track Every Christmas by Martin. Other tracks include So This Is Christmas (Wayne Wonder), Little Christmas Tree (Romain Virgo), Give Love (D Major), and All I Want For Christmas (Tosh Alexander).
In true Jamaican style, these artistes have all put their own unique twist on these classic Christmas songs, reinventing them for a modern audience that still appreciates the classic carols.
“We’re always looking for ways to give back to our valued customers, and in the spirit of the season we decided to partner with Chris and these other talented artistes to create this album. The music is perfect for Christmas in Jamaica, with catchy rhythms along with these classic lyrics that we’re sure everyone will enjoy this season,” Roper added.
Interestingly, Tosh Alexander recently released her Christmas EP titled An Island Christmas: Tosh Alexander and Friends. The EP, which also features collaborations with Martin and Virgo, was recently listed at number 23 on the iTunes reggae albums chart.
