St Catherine man to pay $500k, serve 9 months for cocaine
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A St Catherine man has been sentenced to nine months hard labour suspended for two years for dealing in cocaine and fined $500,000 or serve six months in prison for possession of cocaine.
He is 37-year-old Michael Abrahams of Caribbean Estate, St Catherine.
The sentence was handed down after he pleaded guilty in the St Catherine Parish Court on Monday, December 04.
Abrahams was arrested at his home on Friday, July 7; after detectives from the Narcotics Division conducted a raid at the premises and found cocaine weighing approximately 70 kilograms.
He is also committed to appear before the Home Circuit Court on Friday, January 12, 2018, to answer to allegation of breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
Bail was offered to him in the sum of $300,000.
