Cafe Dolce by Fromage
Restauranteurs Lisa and Kirk Chin are closing 2017 as they started it: super-upbeat about the restaurant industry. Following the runaway success of Fromage Brasserie at the Marketplace, opened in January, and the glamorous makeover of Fromage Bistro at 8 Hillcrest Ave — and let’s not forget their Oak wine bar — the enterprising duo have given Thursday Food yet another cosy endroit in which to dine. Welcome to Cafe Dolce by Fromage, located at 114 Constant Spring Road between Tile City and Kohler showrooms.
The doors of this 1,600-sq ft café, the largest café space in Kingston with seating for 40 — the mezzanine complete with comfy lounge chairs and cosy décor seats 12, more to be added soon — opened on Thursday, December 14.
Menu options include fresh brewed coffee, frozen coffee, fresh juices and lemonade, plus fresh healthy salads, sumptuous breakfast sandwiches and breakfast smoothies and hot and toasty paninis.
The Chins, by their own account, got into the café industry because “we saw a need for more healthy options and a need for more cafés in the Kingston 8 area, making this stop on Constant Spring Road a must from the morning traffic on your commute to work to stop and grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich or smoothie to go”. And why not, whilst you’re at it, pick up a salad for lunch?
With sensible opening hours, 7:00 am-8:00 pm, we reckon Cafe Dolce and Tile City/Kohler are a match made in design heaven.
