UPDATE: Flash flood watch in effect for all parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological Service a short while ago issued a flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of all parishes until 5:00 pm today.
These unstable weather conditions are due to a cold front across Jamaica, the Met Service said.
Satellite imagery and radar reports indicate that light to moderate and at times heavy showers affected sections of mainly northern parishes last night.
The forecast is for periods of showers and thunderstorms to affect sections of most parishes today into Friday.
Flash flooding is therefore possible over low-lying and flood-prone areas of Jamaica. Windy conditions are also expected mainly across sections of northern parishes.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
The Meteorological Service said it will continue to monitor the situation.
