Roaring River look to extend unbeaten run
PETERSFIELD, Westmoreland — Weather permitting, Roaring River FC will seek to extend their unbeaten run to three-straight games today when they host Grand Palladium FC in a match-up of promoted teams at the Petersfield Community Centre as the Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation/Charley’s JB Rum Super League resumes after the break for the New Year.
Parts of western Jamaica have been affected by persistent rains since Thursday, and while there have not been any reports of flooding, the rains would have affected the condition of the playing surfaces.
Another five games are set to be played tomorrow in the fourth set of games in the first round.
Roaring River FC, last season’s Westmoreland Major League champions, rebounded from their opening loss to beat former champions Granville United, then drawing at Clarks Town last weekend and are tied in third place on four points in Zone Two.
Grand Palladium FC, who won the Hanover Major League last season, are a point behind Roaring River FC, but have conceded eight goals in their three games, the most by any team in the competition. They have scored just once.
It will be the first-ever meeting between the teams and Grand Palladium will be seeking to rebound from their loss to Faulkland FC in Montego Bay on Saturday when they showed improvement in the second half against the most prolific team in the competition.
Eran Vassell has scored two of Roaring River’s four goals, while Oshawn Neil scored the other.
