Weekly Round-up: Palisadoes calamity… NHT wokers on edge… Dead cop’s pregnant spouse killed
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The country is now seeking answers after the daylight New Year’s party called Sandz, caused a gridlock along the Palisadoes Road leading to the Norman Manley International Airport on Monday resulting in airlines passengers and crews missing their flights.
In their defence, the party promoters said they received the necessary approval from airport authorities and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation, designated parking was organised and advertised, and arrangements were made with the police.
Fingers were also pointed at the police, with commissioner George Quallo labelling the incident an embarrassment to the force.
Meanwhile, National Housing Trust workers are on edge after news surfaced that several temporary workers will be added to the country’s list of unemployed people come March, however the Government-run agency denied the reports of impending job cuts.

On the crime scene, the pregnant wife of a cop who was brutally murdered last October was gunned down on Wednesday at her home in Jericho, St Catherine.
