J’can kills former classmate at NYE party in Florida
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two former high school classmates from Jamaica had a fatal encounter on New Year’s Eve, when it is said that one shot the other dead during a house party in Lauderhill, Florida.
According to US reports, the accused gunman, 24-year-old Shevon “Natty” Salmon reportedly confessed to firing a handgun at Paul Anthony “Mafia” Nelson, 26, who was sitting on a couch in the Florida apartment.
It was further reported that Salmon did not say why he shot his friend, and police have not described a possible motive.
Before the killing, Nelson had stopped by his former home and Salmon joined him to “smoke” at the Lauderhill party house, a police report stated.
After the gunfire, party guests disarmed Salmon, who reportedly left the apartment and took a cab home. Nelson, who was shot multiple times in his chest, died at the scene.
Salmon was arrested last Tuesday at his Miramar home and faces one charge of premeditated murder.
He is in a Broward County jail receiving medical care, and his initial court hearing is pending.
