UPDATE: Accused lottery scammer captured yesterday, to face court tomorrow
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Accused lottery scammer Mario Hines, who was captured in Rhyne Park, St James on Tuesday, is scheduled to appear in the Westmoreland Parish Court tomorrow.
The 24-year-old Hines was on the run since United States Authorities listed him among 14 Jamaican wanted for wire fraud and money laundering (lottery scam) in 2015.
His arrest brings to 13 the number of people arrested on extradition warrants from that list. Co-accused Gareth Billings remains on the run.

Hines was apprehended during a 9:00 am operation carried out by members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch Fugitive Apprehension Team, the Area One Anti-Lottery Scam Taskforce and the Mobile Reserve.
US authorities said the scam, which bilked at least 90 Americans out of more than US$5.7 million, ran for just over six years and was masterminded by Lavrick Willocks, who pleaded guilty in July last year.
A total of 24 of the 27 people indicted in the case, including Willocks’ mother, have pleaded guilty or been convicted.
They are accused of calling victims about bogus lottery winnings, persuading them to pay advance fees to receive the purported winnings, then keeping the money without paying out anything to the victims.
