TRELAWNY, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) says it is currently monitoring the situation along a number of roadways which have been rendered impassable due to persistent rain in the parishes of St Ann, Trelawny and Westmoreland.

The agency in a release today said that so far five roadways have been reported flooded including the road from Brown’s Town to Stewart Town in St Ann which is impassable at an area known as Standfast.

“Trelawny the roadway from Jackson Town to Ulser Spring is impassable at Level Bottom; that from Clarkes Town to Kinloss is impassable at Hyde; the Duncans to Long Pond road is flooded at Long Pond while the Jackson Town to Stewart Town roadway is flooded at Barnstaple,” the release added.

Manager, communication and customer services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw said the Withorn to Ferris roadway in Westmoreland is heavily inundated in the vicinity of the Withorn Police Station but is passable.  

He added that as it continues to rain in these parishes the motoring public should exercise due caution when travelling along the affected roadways.
