1. Two children killed as fire guts Walker’s Place of Safety
It has been reported that two children who were housed at Walker’s Place of Safety on Lyndhurst Crescent in Kingston perished in a fire that destroyed the premises early this morning.
2. East Kingston commanding officer transferred after Palisadoes pile-up
Superintendent Robert Walker, who was the Commanding Officer for the East Kingston Division, has been transferred to the Police Area 4 HQ with immediate effect.
3. Suspect in Westmoreland quadruple murder charged
The police are reporting that 26-year-old Ryan Letsman of Kings Street, Montego Bay in St James, who was arrested in December last year, has been charged in connection with the murder of four people in Brighton district, Westmoreland on Friday, November 24, 2017.
4. PNPYO wants police to investigate reports of attacks on young women
The People’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) has called on Commissioner of Police, George Quallo to investigate the increased number of reports by young women circulating on social media, of robberies and kidnappings in sections of St Catherine and St Andrew.
5. Young female higgler shot and injured in Spanish Town
The police have confirmed that a higgler was shot and injured along Morrison Street/Burke Road in Spanish Town this morning.
6. Gov’t provides counselling, relief supplies in wake of fire at Walker’s Place of Safety
The Government is providing counselling and relief supplies for children and staff of the Walker’s Place of Safety in Kingston, following a massive fire last night that claimed the lives of two children.
7. Grange hails history-making women’s bobsled team
Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, has congratulated Jamaica’s women’s bobsleigh team on their historic qualification to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games to be held in PyeongChang, South Korea in February.
8. Janice Budd funeral set for January 27
The thanksgiving service for former journalist Janice Budd will be held on Saturday, January 27 at the Swallowfield Chapel in Kingston, beginning at 10:00 am.
9. Jamaica, Mexico sign MoU on multi-destination tourism
Jamaica and Mexico on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to concretise a multi-destination marketing arrangement, which will create ease of travelling between destinations and increase arrivals.
10. St Lucia man arrested in cocaine bust
Police have arrested a St Lucian following the seizure of one pound of cocaine at the Falmouth Pier in Trelawny yesterday.
