KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Education, Youth & Information, Senator Ruel Reid, will this afternoon meet with the head of the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) in the wake of the recent fire that killed two wards of the State.

An advisory from the ministry said the meeting will be held at the agency’s Duke Street office this afternoon. Reid will also distribute care packages for the children.

Fire on Monday night destroyed the Walker’s Place of Safety on Lyndhurst Road, which housed 36 children.

Two of them perished while the remaining 34 children have since been relocated to three residential child care facilities in the Corporate Area, accompanied by social workers and their caregivers, CPFSA said in a release this morning.

The agency is currently accepting donations of items such as non-perishable food, clothing, educational supplies and personal care items for the children.

Drop-off locations are now open at the following locations from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily:

• 40 Duke Street, Kingston

• 48 Duke Street, Kingston

• 12 Carlton Crescent, Kingston 10 or any other CPFSA offices islandwide
