Couples Ocho Rios Charity Golf tourney raises $1.7 million
The 2018 edition of the 17th Annual Couples Resorts Ocho Rios Charity Golf Tournament held at Sandals Golf and Country Club has proven successful yet again with approximately $1.7 million being raised.
There were 76 participants last Sunday, despite the rainy weather which threatened the event the night before.
The event has netted well over $26 million over the past 16 years, and this year the three charities to benefit are the Three Hill Primary School, the Hamilton Mountain Basic School, and The Animal House.
On the golf course the participants performed admirably with Ricardo Perry and Steve Richards emerging victorious in the gross score category and winning for themselves three nights in a suite at a Couples resort.
Sean Morris and Philip Prendergast were second in the gross score, winning for themselves two nights in a suite at a Couples resort.
Third place went to Johnny Marsh and Gifford Wilmot, earning for themselves two nights in a gardenview room at a Couples resort. Mark and Terri Morantes finished fourth, winning for themselves Samsung Galaxy J2 smart phones donated by Digicel. Winston Watson and Earl Manning were fifth, earning for themselves a day pass and spa treatment at a Couples resort.
Alex Jordan and Garth Howell won the net score category to win three nights in a suite at a Couples resort. Nick Borie and Gerard Rice finished second in that category, for two nights in a suite at a Couples resort.
The Couples Resorts Ocho Rios Charity Golf Tournament is the brainchild of repeat guests, Americans Gene and Jane Saks from Florida, and Alan and Josie Kline from Arizona.
