Chronixx’s album should win!
Dear Editor,
I agree wholeheartedly with Jamaica Observer columnist Donovan Watkis as stated in his piece ‘5 reasons Chronixx’s album should win 2018 Reggae Grammy’.
The other Grammy nominees in the reggae category should be commended for their nomination, but having listened to the albums nominated, Chronixx’s Chronology stands out in terms of artistry, it represents the epitome of what reggae music is all about. It is conscious, classic, clean reggae music, reminiscent of what the pioneers who developed this genre were all about. I am reminded of Bob Marley when I listen to an album like this.
A friend overseas said he gets such a high Jamaican vibe when he listens to Chronology, it made him want to return to the land of his birth. All the tracks are superb. It’s the type of album you listen to over and over again; the lyrics are socially conscious and thought-provoking with a rhythm that is pulsating, catchy and melodic.
We know the Grammys tend to favour the Marleys, regardless of popular opinion, but let us see what happens on January 28 when the Grammy winners are announced.
