Over 4000lbs of ganja found at Kingston terminal
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Investigators assigned to the Narcotics Division have began a probe into the seizure of 4,083 pounds of ganja seized at a shipping terminal in Kingston yesterday.
Reports are that about 9:30 am, security personnel were on duty at one of the ports when they became suspicious of a 40-foot container that was brought to the location.
The police were summoned as well as members of the Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team and 37 bags, containing 747 parcels of compressed ganja, was found.
The scene was processed and the illicit drug, which has an estimated street value of $16.3 million, subsequently seized.
No arrest was made in connection with the seizure.
