Gutsy Boyz draw 2-2 with South Korea
ANTALYA, Turkey — Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz bravely held World Cup-bound South Korea to an exciting 2-2 draw inside the Mardan Stadium here on Tuesday.
Dane Kelly opened the scoring in the fifth-minute to give Jamaica 1-0 lead at half-time, but a quick-fire brace (55th and 63rd minutes) from South Korea’s Kim Shinwook put the Asians in the driver’s seat.
But, from the bench, Portmore United’s Maalique Foster popped up with a brilliant right-footed strike in the 72nd minute from 20 yards to bring the Boyz back into the contest.
It was Foster’s second goal in as many games as he was on target for Jamaica against Romanian club CS Gaz Metan Medias on Saturday.
South Korea are using the match as part of preparations for their participation in the Russia FIFA World Cup, where they will contest Group F with Germany, Mexico and Sweden.
Jamaica, meantime, are building up for the CONCACAF League of Nations, which will kick off later this year.
