KINGSTON, Jamaica — England Lions Captain Keaton Jennings led the way with a solid, unbeaten hundred as the tourists seized control on the opening day of the three-day warm-up cricket match against a Jamaica Select XI at Sabina Park.

At close of play on Monday, the Jamaica team were struggling on 36-4 in reply to the Lions’ 263-8 declared.

The left-hander Jennings accumulated 129 runs in an innings that spanned 207 deliveries and contained 13 fours and a pair of sixes.

Useful contribution also came from Alex Davies, who struck an 80-ball 53.

Tall pacer Reynard Leveridge captured 2-23 to lead the local team’s bowling charge, while spinners Damion Jacobs and Jamie Merchant supported with 2-63 and 2-67, respectively.

When the Jamaica XI batted, the Lions pacers James Porter and Toby Roland-Jones claimed two wickets apiece to wreck the top-order. Kenar Lewis made 22 before he was dismissed off the last ball of the day.

The Lions are using this game to prepare for three unofficial Test matches against West Indies A. The first game is scheduled to start February 11 at Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.
