Omar Collymore charged, to appear in court this week
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police have reported that Omar “Best” Collymore, the 35-year-old man accused of masterminding the murder of his wife on Stanley Terrace in Red Hills, St Andrew early this year, has been formally charged.
Collymore was yesterday charged with two counts of murder in relation to the killing of his 32-year-old wife, Simone Campbell-Collymore, and 36-year-old taxi operator Winston Watson.
Collymore was captured during an operation at a guest house in St Elizabeth in the wee hours of Thursday morning on the heels of a warrant being issued for his arrest two days earlier.
The police said on Tuesday that after “intensive investigations”, Collymore and others were identified as co-conspirators in the double murder.
While speaking to the Jamaica Observer, Superintendent Paul Thomas said that based on investigations, he was confident Collymore was the mastermind of the shooting murders which took place just outside a Red Hills apartment building.
The police had also revealed that two people were already in custody in connection with the double murder and that other suspects were being sought for questioning.
At least one of those in custody has already been charged.
Collymore is reportedly set to appear in court this week.
