KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has extended its deepest condolences to the family of former councillor for the Mocho Division of the Clarendon North Central constituency, Helene Fay Simpson.

The party in a release last evening said Simpson who served as Councillor from 1998 left representational politics last year after 18 years as the JLP councillor for the division.

A popular businesswoman in Osbourne Store, Clarendon, Simpson was known for “being a selfless woman who was always finding new ways to get better opportunities for her constituents,” the JLP said.

Party General Secretary Dr Horace Chang expressed regret at the news of her passing and stated that the contribution by Simpson to the JLP and the Mocho Division was invaluable, “the party is eternally grateful for the stellar foundation she laid in the communities therein and will ensure her legacy is honoured.

“She laid a solid foundation that made transition easy and that’s what the JLP wants to replicate. That type of leadership where the community is in a better place and the people become your family,” Chang stated.

He expressed his sincere condolences to her family and the extended family of the Mocho Division who have lost more than a political representative but rather a builder and a friend.
