Its WASP sensibilities informed by old Harvard, Princeton and Yale yearbooks, subtle odes to ’40s and ’50s luxury and loungy elegance make High Rock the perfect backdrop for a fashion collection. Indeed, designer Ralph Lauren brought lots of warmth to his New York Fashion Week runway with a rapturous tribute to his beloved Round Hill.

Airy ceilings, creamy walls opening to lush greenery that frames an infinity pool which seemingly joins the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea are the creature comforts of High Rock, designer Ralph Lauren’s vacation home in the cashmere-chic Round Hill.

The fashion designer, along with his wife, Ricky, has enjoyed this tropical paradise several times a year for the past 20 years, and still considers it where he “has no obligation. It’s very serene, a different world, far from everything.”

“Jamaica is for relaxing, for lying on the land — or on a hammock on the land,” the designer once told Architectural Digest noting, too, that High Rock’s dramatic and high ceilings allow him to enjoy the sea breeze. Built in the early ’50s by Clarence Dillon, the head of one of Wall Street’s most important investment banks and designed by F Burrall Hoffman, Jr, who designed Miami’s Italiante Villa Vizcaya, the home is set on the highest point of the Round Hill resort, which consists of a small hotel and 29 villas on a peninsula.

Lauren’s 2018 Ready-to-Wear collection recalled the easy, breezy lifestyle he and his family enjoy while here… from playful patterns, soft cottons and loungewear that inspire lazy beach days to bright and vibrant colours that make one think of sunny days and wild flowers. Look at his collection and it’s easy to see why he’d want to wake up in paradise every so often!
