‘Brazen, bold, careless’ shooting in August Town
ST ANDREW, Jamaica —
Principal of the August Town Primary School, Marlton Wilson, described this morning’s shooting incident in the community as “brazen, bold and careless.”
Wilson, in an interview with OBSERVER ONLINE said that the shooting happened during devotion which was taking place on the school’s basketball court.
“Teachers, students (and) parents took off. It was so close, so much so it got everyone panicking,” recounted Wilson.
This incident which claimed one life comes a few weeks after a quadruple murder at a bar in the community prompting lawmen to impose a curfew in the area.
The August Town police have blamed the spate of violence in the community on the release of former gangsters from prison who they say want to retake control of the area.
