Weekly Round-up: Overseas job scam… Chinese businessman murdered…Former KC athlete facing US jail time
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reports of a job scam surfaced on Wednesday when more than 100 job applicants across the island went to Christiana in Manchester to meet a bus that was supposed to transport them to Kingston, en route to Canada and the United States.
The applicants realised that it was scam when calls to the contact person from the supposed employment agency proved futile.
On the crime scene, a 28-year-old Chinese businessman who owned a supermarket in St Ann was shot dead on Tuesday afternoon. The police believe they now have the two main suspects in custody.
And in sport, former Kingston College and national swimming and track-and-field representative Xavier Boland is facing prison time in the United States and three felony charges of invasion of privacy after admitting to filming his male roommate having sex with women without their consent.
