Apology
On May 28, 2009 we published an article entitled “$50-m Legal Costs Claim! Vaz accuses Dabdoub of using court cases as ‘money making venture’” in both the print and Internet editions of the Observer .
The article contained comments made by Mr Daryl Vaz in relation to Mr Abe Dabdoub in bringing election petitions. The Observer has been advised that the comments made by Mr Daryl Vaz were inaccurate. The Observer wishes to advise its readers that it is satisfied that:
1. The Bill of Costs for $49.1 million, filed in the Supreme Court by Gayle Nelson & Co, the attorneys-at-law on the record for Mr Abraham (Abe) Dabdoub, the Petitioner, related solely to charges in respect to work done by Gayle Nelson & Co and attorneys-at-law engaged by them in pursuing the Petition.
2. Mr Abraham Dabdoub has not benefited from any taxed costs to be paid by Mr Vaz.
On March 17, 2010 the Observer published an apology to Mr Dabdoub in its daily newspaper and Internet publications. At the request of Mr Dabdoub and in conjunction with Mr Daryl Vaz, we issue this further apology.
The Jamaica Observer Limited and Mr Daryl Vaz again retract the statements made by Mr Daryl Vaz published on May 28, 2009 in the newspaper and on the Observer’s Internet edition.
Again, Jamaica Observer Limited, along with Mr Daryl Vaz, retracts its publication of the comments made by Mr Daryl Vaz and unreservedly apologises to Mr Abraham (Abe) Dabdoub for the inaccurate statements published in respect to Mr Abraham (Abe) Dabdoub and for any embarrassment caused in relation to his profession and business as an attorney-at-law.
